Coffee vs. Tea

Many people believe coffee is an essential part of breakfast. You might be surprised to learn that tea is a much healthier beverage to consume.

When choosing between coffee and tea take the following into consideration:

Tea – Enhance your metabolism by drinking tea on a regular basis, as it has powerful antioxidants.  Black tea, in specific, is useful in lowering stress levels.  Four cups a day effectively reduces levels of cortisol (stress hormone).

High levels of antioxidants prove helpful in preventing osteoporosis, cancer, heart disease, diabetes, and even psychological impairments associated with Alzheimer’s.  Drinking tea regularly can also help reduce cholesterol levels, relax blood vessels and impede the formation of blood clots.  Three cups or more can reduce the risk of stroke by more than 20%.

Interestingly, tea is actually good for your teeth.  It helps to prevent cavities as a result of the antioxidants and contains polyphenols, which helps to prevent the buildup of bacteria associated with bad breath.  Tea has the proven ability of warding off fungal and bacterial infections.

Studied have shown that individuals who suffer from moderate to severe depression showed improved psychological outlooks after 2-4 cups of (particularly) green tea each day.

Coffee – It doesn’t actually help your body burn fat and is primarily well known as an appetite suppressant.

Contributes to the battle of Alzheimer’s and diabetes, only.

Coffee is known for causing discoloration and brittleness in teeth requiring a recommended bi-annual visit to the dentist. While coffee, tea, and chocolate all naturally contain different amounts of caffeine, soft drinks have varied amounts added.

  • When we talk about mental health, we normalize the experiences that so many people face…stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, and more. Having an open discussion also drives systemic change. It challenges outdated beliefs, informs better policies, and promotes access to care. These conversations are the first step toward building a more compassionate and inclusive society.

  • Today, we recognize the invisible wounds carried by many young people, especially those from marginalized communities who have experienced trauma.

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) doesn’t always look the same in youth. It can show up as anxiety, withdrawal, anger, or even academic struggles. For marginalized youth, the effects of trauma are often compounded by systemic barriers, discrimination, and lack of access to mental health resources.

In observance of this day, let’s:
- Start conversations about trauma and healing
- Advocate for trauma-informed care in schools and youth programs
- Support organizations that uplift and empower youth mental health

Every young person deserves to feel safe, seen, and supported. Healing is possible and awareness is the first step.
