While many individuals are struggling to balance personal and professional social distancing there are many ways to manage your mental health. Meditation is a great way to relax and assist in calming your daily routine. While it comes in various forms we’ll look at two healthy ways you can have a piece of mind and stay fit.

There is no easy answer to the differences between Pilates and yoga. They both have many differences and many similarities, and yet they both offer a number of advantages. Although the similar exercises are continually compared to one another they have a very individualized approach.

Yoga – Where the physical form has as much importance as the mind, it is also a meditative form of exercise. Yoga has a balance between mind and body affording and individual to be peaceful and stress free.

Benefits: Yoga helps in the physical and mental well being of each person. It helps in the detoxification of the body and toning of the muscles. It brings flexibility and lubricates different joints, ligaments and tendons.  Additionally, internal organs and glands can be massaged with yoga exercises.

Pilates – Pilates is based on physical conditioning. Pilates emphasis on control of mind over matter, breathing, and physical strength.

Benefits: Pilates teaches correct breathing techniques to help calm your breathing and reduce stress. When using the correct pelvic and posture alignment you can build strength without building bulky muscle. Muscles are also lengthened and enhanced with joint mobility.

As you can see, both exercises have their own strengths.  Therefore, it is best to include both forms into your workout and daily routine as a form of meditation.
