When you make the conscious decision to cut back on unhealthy foods the suggested method is not to go cold turkey.  Although it works for a small percentage of individuals in society, it can be hard not matter how motivated you are.

The first step is to make a plan to gradually reduce your calorie intake and make subtle changes throughout the week.  Remember not to replace one item for another.  Your body needs to adjust the one change without prolonging the process of introducing another.  After a short period of time you will start to feel the difference.

Substitute changes with the most recognizable food items first, such as rice instead of pasta (preferable brown rice), salsa for sauces, and even fruit opposed to a dessert.  Become familiar with alternative foods, eat smaller portions, and start to feel your energy level elevate.

Keep track of your cravings and how they affect your energy, sleep, and mood.  Stay focused on eating healthier and overtime you will feel and see a clear path to healthy living.
